Someone died of alcohol poisoning without drinking. What happened?

An alcohol addict was drinking for a few years. The drinking has been etching his throat until he was not able to drink properly. The alcohol burned within his throat severely. So he came up with an amazing idea of administering an enema to himself. He elected to receive his favourite beverage, two 1.5 litre bottles of sherry, into his colon. That much alcohol made him pass out and the alcohol remaining in his rectal cavity continued to be absorbed. The next morning he was dead. According to toxicology reports, his blood alcohol level was 4.7 permil.
